I am a provisionally licensed Social Worker who helps children and families navigate life challenges associated with anxiety and depression, Autism, ADHD, grief and trauma. I especially enjoy working with women, school-age children and older individuals. I earned a Master’s in Social Work from Indiana University in 2019 and am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma, Motivational Interviewing and Strengths and Empowerment. My style is warm and engaging and I find compassion-focused strategies to be particularly effective as I help my clients overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
I am a former educator who loves helping students understand difficult concepts. Over time, I felt myself drawn to beginning a new career as counselor. Although the journey from teacher to therapist may seem unusual, teachers, like therapists, spend much of their time listening and becoming attuned to their students’ needs and unspoken cues.
My success in building relationships with students, families, and colleagues led me to realize that God had other plans for me and I have thoroughly enjoyed the transition from working in the classroom to the therapy office. I find it so rewarding to help others recognize their strengths and how to use them to transcend the obstacles in their lives.
