My name is Sora Yoon, LMFT and art therapist. My approach is person-centered, and I utilized modalities of treatment that will match your specific needs whether that is a behavioral approach (DBT, RO DBT, MBCBT, ACT) or psychodynamic and or trauma-focused (CPP). I also incorporate creativity into my approach with art therapy, sandtray, and other expressive arts. My communication style is warm, inviting, providing unconditional positive regard, strength-based, empathetic, and direct when a crisis or seriousness of situation needs to be communicated.
What it feels like to work with me is feeling held, contained, deeply understood, restorative relationship experience, and encouraging. I provide a non-judgmental stance and also insight for patients to consider. I also provide practical support if it is taking action for short-term and long-term goals that are based.
For the first session, it is psycho-social assessment, treatment planning, rapport, and trust building. Clients will come away with having their story and situation of why they are seeking counseling understood, cared for, and having direction as to how to approach to improve this area that they would like to get support around.
