Engaging in psychotherapy is a courageous act, and I have a great deal of respect for people taking steps toward healing. I am a licensed psychologist providing relational psychodynamic therapy for young adults (primarily 20s and 30s) struggling with early family trauma, perfectionism and self-criticism, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, identity concerns, body image and eating concerns, anxiety, depression, and more. I provide a warm, open, accepting space, knowing that it is necessary to feel safe and understood before you can experiment with change and growth.
I am trained in multiculturally-sensitive counseling and am interested in how your racial/ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, religious, dis/ability, class, and other identities contribute to your sense of self and others. I am an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist, and welcome clients of all genders, sexual orientations, and in all types of relationships.
Choosing a therapist can feel overwhelming, and I aim to help take some of the anxiety and mystery out of the process. Please visit my website, www.drsophiekarp.com, for more information about my approach, and feel free to reach out with questions.
