I am trained in EMDR and often draw on somatic therapies, attachment theory, and parts work.
Experiencing trauma, loss, or upheaval is destabilizing and isolating. It can erode the relationships we value the most while making us call into question our sense of identity. Even if we avoid consciously thinking about it, the imprint of our past can wreak havoc on our physical health, our nervous system, and our present experience. The healing process asks us tune into our intuition and our bodies so that we can notice which parts of ourselves most need our attention and care. I can offer tools and support for those seeking to regain a sense of safety and connection with themselves, others, and the world around them.

I use Emotionally focused, Narrative, IFS, CBT, expressive arts, Somatic & Mindfulness to support women processing grief, and unprocessed emotions that may be creating emotional blocks.
Are you looking for a beginning, that pays attention to the subtle healing and shifts that you are making and wanting to bring into the world? Often times, the areas of our life that are not working well are guided by trauma informed emotional patterns and feeling habits, that pull us away from self trust, progress and healing. Fear and the energy it holds can unconsciously play a role in self sabotage, anxiety and counter manifesting. Using expressive arts, IFS, food science, poetry, spiritual awareness and a holistic approach, I can help you connect to your mind/body intuition. I also provide walk and talk therapy in Seattle.

I am EMDR Trained and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.
Feeling as if you have to appear to have everything together, while internally you are struggling and overwhelmed? Maybe you have been avoiding pain or hurt from your childhood or past relationships but you know it is taking a toll on you. You might not even remember a time when things didn't feel so overwhelming. A few things are for sure: you are ready for some relief. You are ready to feel heard and seen. And you long to slow down. Clients come to me looking for a safe space to work thru anxiety, heal past wounds, build tolerance for challenging emotions, and develop self-worth.

I work holistically, weaving cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), somatic work, EMDR, mindfulness meditation, and energy healing techniques based on your unique needs.
I know first hand that healing from trauma and "the dark nights of the soul" are not only possible, but hold within them a gateway to more love and joy. No one goes through life without pain. Yet how we address our pain will make all the difference in how deeply we suffer, how resilient we are and how much we grow from these experiences. I will infuse our collaboration with compassion, acceptance, curiosity, and humor--focusing on your strengths.

My approach uses evidence-based practices of Emotion Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy, combined with humor, self-attunement, and somatic awareness.
At one time or another, we all find ourselves stuck and struggling to move ahead. We have learned to cope and move through our lives using tools and coping mechanisms that have worked in some ways, but have not allowed us to feel grounded, comfortable, or fully happy with our lives as we progress through them. My job is to work collaboratively with you to create safety and trust through which we can help you develop skills and gain insights, allowing you to reclaim happiness and comfort in your life. I am most passionate about supporting people dealing with Anxiety, Grief, and Life Transition issues.

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
