I am also trained in somatic trauma therapy emphasizing techniques like meditation, art, and movement to help access and integrate underlying emotional distress.
I hold a master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Western States in Portland, OR. My primary research focus is transpersonal experiences and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and integration. My philosophy is one of organicity, meaning that every individual is gifted with an innate healing wisdom and capacity for wholeness. As a former earth scientist and current artist, I incorporate lessons from nature and creative expression in my work, and seek to help others reconnect with the more subtle rhythms of psyche as a woven thread in the generative fabric of life.

My work is experiential, somatic and uses mindful awareness to help create transformation in your life.
I see my job as helping you reconnect to and live from your inner truth. Do you feel you have been living in ways that feel like "not the real me"? Together we can uncover and validate what makes sense about unwanted behaviors and find the important impulse that lives underneath. I believe we each have wisdom inside that gets covered over with protective strategies, like the sun behind the clouds. I work with individuals and couples to facilitate reconnection to the heart of self and others.

I use experiential (creative) and somatic (body-focused) techniques for additional ways of processing grief, loss, or disconnection.
My clients' concerns fall into three (often overlapping) categories: 1) a lack of mind/body connection due to trauma or depersonalization/derealization 2) grieving a death, a romantic or platonic breakup, or a loss of self 3) sex and pleasure (or lack thereof) and are looking for new ways to connect with themselves and those around them.

With a focus on mindfulness and somatic (body) awareness, our work is an invitation to connect more deeply with your authentic self and the wisdom held within your body.
I work one-on-one with adults who are seeking to heal from trauma and loss, to understand and accept themselves more fully, to feel more present and connected, and to pursue new directions of personal growth. Many clients come to my practice seeking a path beyond traditional “talk therapy”—a space where they can explore healing and growth in ways that honor their unique identities and the richness of their lived experiences.

Taking New Clients: Everyone has the essential ingredients for positive change. Individuals and couples who seek my support are in a difficult moment or intersection in life; seeking resolution between internal and external pressures; seeking satisfaction and harmony in relationships, identity, career, society, etc. I support clients who seek to deepen and broaden their perspective on who they are and who they want to become by examining self-limiting narratives, refining self-mastery, and cultivating self-compassion. BIPOC and multicultural clients often seek my support as well as those who want more from therapy than just insight.

I utilize trauma-informed and social-justice lenses while I integrate polyvagal theory, embodiment and somatic practices, and a strengths-based belief that every client I have the privilege of interacting with already has the capacity and tools inside of themself to create change.
I deeply enjoy working with clients who are ready to engage and do the work inside and outside of therapy. I would love to sit with you in any experiences of ADD/ADHD, boundary setting & maintenance, identity exploration, processing systemic oppression, religious trauma, anxiety, life transitions, relationship and family issues, grief, and exploring your identities and how we move through the world and its systems. I like working with adult individuals; people who are queer, gender-nonconforming, and ethically non-monogamous; and those who identify as BIPOC.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
