Our sessions together will include a mix of talk therapy and somatic work because addressing unfelt feelings in the body is a crucial component of healing.
We live in a world that makes us sick and then capitalizes on our pain. The pain gets passed down through intergenerational trauma, parenting, and the culture at large. The impact erodes our physical and emotional health as well as our ability to nurture strong relationship with our own true selves and others. This unprocessed pain can manifest in your life in a myriad of ways including chronic depression, anxiety, low self-worth, codependency, overworking, addictive behaviors, and relational conflict.

I love offering what I have learned about the breath and the body to others who have lived in their heads and pushed away their somatic experiences.
In our sessions together, I create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your experiences, process your emotions, and develop coping skills to navigate the effects of trauma. I use a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness practices, and somatic interventions, to help you heal on a holistic level. My ultimate goal is to empower you to reclaim your sense of safety, agency, and well-being.

As a trauma-informed somatic based therapist, I recognize that true healing involves reconnecting with our embodied selves, where experiences are felt, honored, and integrated.
Are you a woman struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, perfectionism, people-pleasing, self-expression, or body-image concerns? You're not alone. Trying to fix everything you dislike about yourself can be draining. In my practice, I offer a supportive space where you can explore these challenges without judgment. You don't have to be perfect to take up space in this world. You deserve to feel safe and confident in your own skin. When we face ourselves with kindness and become the compassionate witness to our own stories, we lay the groundwork for profound transformation.

I specialize in Somatic Experiencing (therapy for resolving trauma/nervous system dysregulation and returning to resilience, flow and wellbeing in the nervous system) and Mindfulness/Spirituality.
My love is helping people learn to navigate the terrain of the body and to find the wisdom and freedom of feeling and ‘sensing’ as ways of knowing and healing. This domain is difficult to navigate alone - We live in a time when our nervous systems are deeply taxed and carry significant trauma, and in which the cultural resources for healing have been repressed or lost under the weight of systems of oppression. I want to help you find your way back to a sense of wholeness by listening to your innate wisdom. Please note- I only accept clients who have some form of contemplative practice because it creates a foundation for our work!

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
