Using a warm, casual, active style, I help clients who are struggling with a wide variety of issues find their own way toward growth and health. In a world that typically looks at the surface, I will work with you to look at the deeper parts of yourself and your life so that you can make lasting change that moves you toward your goals. Although our past experiences have helped us shape who we are, they do not need to hold us captive; I help you focus on what is working now and how we can make it better. I primarily work from a somatic lens, helping you tune into your body's wisdom and healing.

I pull from mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic psychology, and attachment theory.
I really enjoy working with people from all walks of life. Specifically, I enjoy the treatment of anxiety, depression, working with adolescents, treating problems surrounding self-compassion and self-esteem, and stress management. I thoroughly enjoy working with LGBTQ+ people, as I identify as a fellow community member myself. I approach my work with children through an integrative lens. I believe children shape their world through play. Kiddos shine brightest when they are met with authenticity, validation, and compassion! Currently, I am accepting clients 18 years old and above only.

I treat children with symptoms of attention and learning challenges including anxiety and sensory concerns. The modality I use is Developmental Movement Therapy and Primitive Reflex Integration which are Somatic approaches that focus on addressing the root of symptoms rather than teaching accommodations or coping mechanisms. Treatment sessions are fun, movement based and "home play" is offered to parents to as a way of engaging and supporting your child between sessions.

In addition to my training as a Psychotherapist, I am a Guild Certified practitioner of the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education, I hold an MFA in visual art, and I am a student and teacher of the Japanese art of Aikido.
While healing is a process that unfolds over time, relief from distress is often more within reach than people first realize. I want to offer my support as you refine your experience of yourself, and of being in the world. There are as many models to explain how people change as there are therapists, and I see my role as helping you to craft a model that leverages your existing strengths and insight. Above all, my goal is to inspire confidence that health is possible and to provide encouragement as you generate the movement that propels you, your relationship, or your family, forward into health.

I use a combination of cognitive and somatic techniques as well as good ol' fashioned person-centered talk therapy.
How many times have you wanted to just quit everything? Maybe you're burnt out, profoundly anxious, or crumbling under all the pressure you've put on your shoulders. Maybe you felt like things weren't working for a while, but you told yourself that you should hold out a little longer in case it all changes. Or maybe you've been piling on promises and now there's too much going on to even know where to begin. And maybe you've heard more than once in your life that you "really need to chill." If that sounds like you, I'm glad you're here.

I am certified in DBT and am interested in Somatic Experiencing and EMDR.
I have always loved to help others. Early on, I found my passion for helping women build confidence and self-esteem through my love for fashion and retail services. However, I realized my true purpose in helping others through my journey of battling chronic illnesses. My deep understanding of the impact of chronic illness makes me unique in my ability to support and guide. Chronic illness has many tentacles and can engulf your whole identity. These feelings, compounded by physical pain, require a safe and secure therapeutic relationship.

My approach is rooted in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), which focuses on somatic and emotional experiences in service of giving rise to insight.
Healing is a process that we are not meant to do alone. I am here to help soften the barriers that prevent you from healing, and remove obstacles that block your full potential. During each session, I create a warm, non-judgemental space in which we can work together to unpack the challenges that you face in your life. I am committed to helping you overcome the root cause of your problems rather than simply rearranging what’s on the surface.

I use strategies from DBT, EMDR, somatic integration, and experiential interventions.
I am most fulfilled when working with people who have experienced trauma and are struggling to participate in their life. This may be as simple as feeling chronically dissatisfied with daily happenings, or it could mean going through a painful transition, such as divorce or the passing of someone close to you. I love seeing how change in perspective or adding something simple can have a profound change in how someone experiences life. Those who have the best outcomes are willing to throw themselves into this experience, stand in their current Truth, and dare to dream of something better for themselves.

I borrow from Motivational Interviewing, Somatic-Experiential, ACT, and IFS.
Finding the optimal therapeutic fit is a bit like going on a blind date... you hope for the best and prepare for the worst. People who think I'm a fit are often high-achieving individuals with an acute awareness of the issue, feel they have tried "everything" to fix it, and are giving therapy “one last chance.” I successfully get clients “unstuck” by challenging them in unconventional, collaborative ways. I intentionally push people 20% past where they are comfortable (because that’s where the growth happens!) and practice pivoting to ensure you have the skills to navigate, manage, and address the discomfort long-term.

I combine a practical, solution-focused approach with effective trauma treatments called EMDR and Somatic Experiencing (SE).
I help people learn to feel worthy of love, so they can have the loving relationships that they crave. You live with the feeling of needing to hide your true self from others, the fear that eventually everyone will realize that you aren't good enough and leave you, or the feeling of being broken beyond repair. Don't feel like this forever. I am committed to sharing compassion, acceptance, and honesty as I walk with you to find joy in the present. My specialty is helping people work through trauma, sexual concerns, and relationship distress.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
