I specialize in trauma-informed practices and am certified in DBT, CBT, Somatic Approaches and Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapies.
Maybe you've been thinking of trying therapy for a while, or have almost given up that it could work for you. I'd love to help you see the beauty in accepting that, as in life, it’s okay to not "get it right" the first time. I enjoy reactivating hope in people to see the potential in themselves and in others. You don't have to try making changes on your own.

I utilize methods from Post-Traumatic Growth and Somatic Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing.
Have substances or other behaviors (such as digital media, food, gambling, or sex) gotten the best of you? Do you feel stuck in your life due to feelings of overwhelm or being on-edge? If you need help enacting change in your life, relationships, or behaviors then I'm here to help! It is both difficult and scary to make changes, especially if we don't have the right tools and the right support. I will help you develop tools you can use to remain in the present moment while working through issues from the past. We will look at blocks and barriers to making the changes you wish to make.

Through treatment interventions such as EMDR, somatic body work, and mindfulness, we will work together to create an environment that makes space for healing, empowerment, and building skills to help you cope with daily life.
Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. Brene Brown once said, “Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they’re never weakness”. Our experiences in life can sometimes leave us feeling sad, angry, confused, lost, and everything in between. Whether you’re struggling with experiences of trauma, depression, anxiety, loss, any relational conflicts, or school difficulties, I’m here to walk alongside you on a path towards vulnerability and compassion for all parts of you. Instead of being who you’ve had to be (because trauma), this journey can bring you to who you’re meant to be.

I like to use mainly talk based therapy, but I am ultimately here for you and love to write, give worksheets, whatever best fits your needs! I currently have NO waiting list and plenty of openings to choose from. I also offer a 15-minute free consultation meeting via phone or video to see if we are a match.

I integrate my experience at Michigan Medicine and training in EMDR, Somatic Experiencing and IFS.
You're exhausted from trying to hold it together. No matter how hard you try, your body won't let go of trauma and stress. You are constantly on alert. It feels like there's always a threat. You feel as though something you wrong with you. You worry that you are broken. It seems like you have lost your way, but you know there is more to you than your past. You are ready to heal and no longer want to be stuck in the past. You're not ready to give up. You know this is the time for change but you aren't sure where to turn or what to do. You are ready to release the trauma trapped inside.

Through evidence-based practices rooted in the latest neuroscience, we will work using somatic / body-based strategies along with mindfulness to identify stuck patterns in order for you to gain enough awareness to make lasting positive change.
My clients struggle with various issues: anxiety, depression, anger, relationship challenges, divorce / break-ups, parenting concerns, medical challenges, etc. They come to me facing ongoing loneliness, sadness, and fear. My clients expect a compassionate space in which to explore their difficulties; unconditional positive regard from me to them. I honor clients where they are at and partner with them to facilitate the healing necessary to get them to where they want to be. My clients explore how their experiences in early childhood shaped how they show up in the world on a day to day basis, sometimes in unexpected ways.

I offer trauma informed, somatic and attachment focused therapy for adults and couples.
We are all called to evolve beyond our survival level strategies designed to cope with wounding family systems, lineages and social systems. It is possible to integrate the legacy of trauma we have inherited and thrive in this lifetime. We are collectively facing monumental global challenges, socially, politically and environmentally, that amplifies this legacy, and hastens the call for us to cultivate greater capacity to stay present, grounded and lovingly engaged. Returning to wholeness requires reorienting towards mobilizing our rich inner and outer resources, shifting from generating suffering to unlocking liberation.

I offer targeted somatic, attachment-focused EMDR in weekly and intensive formats, tapping into your innate strengths to help you put the past behind you and thrive.
I provide EMDR for healthcare providers, first responders and helping professionals. You work hard, but painful experiences from your past keep you stuck. Perhaps you over-schedule, over-commit, and always keep yourself busy. You listen to podcasts about stress and time management, but have a hard time relaxing because your brain won’t shut off. Or you haven’t slept well in ages, and you never feel rested. Maybe you can’t stop thinking about an incident or situation, or maybe you overreact to certain people and situations or feel jumpy and panicky. You know that you have so much more potential and are ready work to feel better now.

As a trauma somatic therapist, I work with individuals and couples to address trauma and neglect.
Do you find talk therapy not helping enough or perhaps making you feel worse? This can happen, especially if there is trauma or neglect in one's history. Are you struggling in your relationship, repeating patterns of conflict, or not getting your needs met? Are you finding yourself crying, blowing your fuse or unable to get out of bed? Do you find yourself dissociating or spacing out? You might want to try a different type of talk therapy called Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. This therapy addresses relationship and attachment patterns and helps to work profoundly and somatically to provide relief.

In my practice, I like to incorporate techniques such as Somatic Experiencing, yoga, and mindfulness based CBT.
You feel like it’s time to take care of yourself. Every time you try to devote time to yourself, life somehow gets in the way. Family, kids, work, school. It’s also the thoughts and feelings that keep you up at night. You hope to bring a sense of clarity to your life. You no longer want to feel led by all the “have tos” or “shoulds” in your life. You constantly support everyone around you. You are ready to receive support for yourself. Together in therapy, we will create a space of safety, curiosity, and kindness so you can heal. You will learn to be as compassionate towards yourself as you are towards others.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
