I often utilize non-traditional approaches such as somatic, art, and other creative tools that go beyond traditional "talk therapy".
I know taking the plunge into therapy can feel scary…you are not alone! If you are looking for a warm, unconditional, and potentially even non-traditional approach to therapy, you have come to the right place. As your therapist, my top priority is to curate an empowering therapeutic environment, fit to your needs. Through my warm energy, goofy sense of humor, and passion for your health, I aim to make therapy a safe place to be your authentic self. I recognize each of my clients are unique beings with unique experiences. Your therapeutic care deserves to have the same consideration.

I utilize various techniques such as mindfulness, acceptance, somatic, and parts-based approaches to help my clients live a more fulfilling and embodied life that aligns with their values.
Are you a chronically ill person who feels unheard or dismissed? Are you struggling with navigating life as a Queer, TGNC, poly, or kinky person? Or with AFAB-specific health conditions (Endometriosis, etc.)? My work centers marginalized identities, including those who are chronically ill, disabled, queer, TGNC, poly, and/or kinky. My lived experiences navigating chronic illness, ableism, survivorship, and Bi+ invisibility have taught me compassion and the importance of rest as an act of resistance against oppressive systems. In the words of Audre Lorde, self-care “is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.”

Drawing from Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Gestalt Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Somatic approaches I help uncover blockages that hold clients back and facilitate healing.
Each path to healing is unique. My relational approach to therapy is collaborative and guided by compassion, understanding, and meaning. It takes courage and resilience to process difficult emotions, sit with grief and painful experiences, or face confusion. My priority in session is to offer a supportive and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their experience safely while finding a meaningful way forward. Drawing from a holistic blend of approaches, clients can discover their own strength, clarity, and wisdom and become empowered to build lives that are more peaceful, joyful, and fulfilling.

My somatic therapy focuses on regulating emotions and addressing difficult feelings through body awareness.
Finding a therapist can be overwhelming, and connecting deeply with one can be essential for meaningful change. Individuals seek me out for a trauma-focused, somatically attuned, or Jungian depth approach to psychotherapy, especially if their past therapy experiences felt too clinical, leaving them doubtful, judged, and disconnected. If you’re feeling this way, you likely want more than quick fixes. You’re seeking profound insights into how life’s pressures and trauma shape your psyche and body. Your goal is to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and develop a sense of purpose and direction.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
