I utilize internal family systems, EMDR, attachment focused therapy, mindfulness and presence, and somatic approaches to promote inner healing and nervous system regulation.
I specialize in working with trauma, grief and loss, and attachment issues. I have experience working with adults, teens, and children who’ve experienced domestic and sexual violence, those struggling with PTSD, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and relationship issues, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and folks who’ve struggled with addiction. Many of my clients work toward acknowledging and grieving the past so moving forward feels possible. I know counseling can be scary. This is why we move slowly and intentionally, making sure counseling doesn't just feel hard. There are moments of joy and celebration in healing too.

I've studied several modalities of somatic healing including SE, OI, and NARM (Developmental Trauma).
My favorite modalities of therapy are Somatic Experiencing and NARM, whole body modalities that involve greater focus on physical sensation, emotion, the felt sense, and incomplete motor programs. Both have grounding in modern neuropsychology. I have found that these techniques enhance a person's journey to integration. I have a background in Jungian work and also have a MA in Folklore and Mythology. I enjoy working with clients who have an interest in somatics, story, and healing from anxiety and trauma. I have done a great deal of men's work and enjoy helping men recover from depression and difficult relationships.

Through work with mindfulness based strategies, somatic therapies, and EMDR, we can begin to address the patterns that have been leading to distress for you and likely in your relationships.
Many of my clients are highly capable people who are may excel in one or multiple areas of their lives, and yet something is not quite right. This might be issues in intimate relationships, struggles with peers, family conflict, persistent depression, or just feeling stuck. Often for my clients these issues are related to experiences that have led to negative beliefs about themselves, the world, or other people and these beliefs are leading to automatic patterns of feeling, thinking, and behaving that keep them stuck in a place they don't want to be in.

I use a number of modalities that go beyond talk therapy (like EMDR, parts work, somatic movement, tapping, and breath work) along with my own intuitive guidance to help bridge the gap between mind, body, and spirit.
Are you looking for a holistic therapist? Do you want to reconnect with your authentic, true self? Do you have this sense there is supposed to be "more"? It is so easy to forget what we come into the world inherently knowing - that we all deserve to be seen, to be heard, and know that we matter. In our work together, we will venture on a journey of remembering who you truly are and unlearning all that you are not. By working with all pieces of you – mind, body, and spirit - we will break down what has built up over time that is no longer serving you and reconnect with the truth underneath.

You have within you the ability to shift threat to thrive. With our aligned intentions, you'll access adaptive thinking and behavior.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
