Grounded in a somatic (body-centered) approach and extensive training in family and human systems theory, I offer clients a structure in which they develop more awareness and understanding of both self and others through practicing different ways of exploring experiences.
Life is an ocean of never-ending challenge; we can get overwhelmed, anxious, isolated, and feel out of control. Without proper support we miss the opportunities for growth that adversity offers. I provide a supportive structure that allows exploration of the most important aspects of your life and helps you develop concrete practical skills to better respond to the complex challenges life presents - - whether in individual, couples, or family therapy. You will learn to better know, understand, and accept more of your experiences and interactions as you discover and shape more satisfying layers of yourself and your relationships.

I weave together my clinical training including EMDR, BrainSpotting, IFS (IFS Informed) and somatic therapies with approaches including breath work to help you reach your goals.
Are you struggling with past traumas, anxiety, depression, or just feel disconnected in your life? Do you feel sometimes like you are "too much" or feel misunderstood in your relationships? If you have experienced trauma, traditional talk therapy is often not enough for creating lasting change. A holistic, integrated approach allows you to tap into the body's innate wisdom. I assist individuals and couples in the areas of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and loss, self-esteem, relationship challenges, sexuality, boundaries, spiritual and existential questions.

I specialize in regulating the nervous system by utilizing holistic and integrative approaches such as: EMDR, mindfulness based CBT, DBT, and somatic work.
Living in this world involves facing twists and turns instead of a clear and steady path. This can make it difficult to know who to trust or where to go to get the healing you deserve. For a lot of us this may be depression and anxiety, complex trauma, or lack of a sense of identity. Trying to survive in a world where we are told to live and think a certain way, and feel like we have to mask who we truly are just to get through each day. I find it exceptionally important to implement compassionate and creative experiences to help you discover your true authentic self and become the main character of your story.

Perhaps life has been extremely challenging lately (e.g., struggling to find balance in managing the kids, relationships and/or a stressful career) and you are feeling unable to adequately attend to your own emotional needs. Maybe unprocessed trauma (e.g., childhood abuse/neglect, workplace or racial) experiences are affecting your relationships and keeping you from living your best life. Could it be that women’s health issues (e.g., infertility, PCOS or PMDD) or men's health issues have left you feeling helpless? Yes, I see you. Regardless of the challenge, I am here to let you know that there is hope!

Are YOU feeling heard? My philosophy is rooted in Cheryl Richardson’s quote that “people start to heal the moment they feel heard” and my professional goal is to empower adults to move from “surviving to thriving" in a comfortable environment where they are safe to be themselves. Using a holistic, trauma-informed approach, I'm ready to help you acknowledge, navigate through and overcome negative patterns of thought and behavior that often lead to depression, anxiety, social isolation, generational trauma, people-pleasing behaviors, boundary issues and negative self-worth.

Do you feel like you’re not good enough? Do you question who you even are? Maybe past hurts keep you held back. Don’t know where to start or who you could even be outside of the trauma or hardships you’ve faced? These can be scary questions to ask yourself and scary memories to discuss. Good news is you’re not alone. I believe the only way out is through.

You're no stranger to "working on yourself." At some point, though, all the practices and techniques you'd been using stopped being enough and just became one more thing on a mile-long to-do list. It seems like things were better at one point but you now feel like you've plateaued. You want to experience a deeper level of healing but you don't know how to get there. That's where I can help. I'm Jessica, and I help spiritually-minded people get unstuck, heal on a deeper level and live more authentic lives. Together, we'll move beyond trendy (and often bypassing) techniques and create lasting, more meaningful changes in your life.

It is an honor to hold someone's heart as they journey through healing and unfold into the individual they desire to be. Traumas, attachment trauma, and life challenges such as loss, depression and anxiety can leave us feeling empty, lost and wondering if life will ever improve. Finding the right prescription of modalities is vital for healing.

As a school counselor and therapist for the past 20 years, I have worked with people struggling in one or many areas of their lives. This includes people going through loss, divorce, grief, anxiety, depression, attentional or organizational difficulties, lack of motivation, childhood trauma, and lack of confidence. I value and support every person I work with and find that people who experience the most success in therapy put in the work and effort in and outside of therapy sessions. That being said, healing happens at a different pace for everyone, and I'm here to meet each person where they're on the journey.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
