My work as a clinical psychologist has grown out of my interest in the interplay of how we develop, what we experience, and how we make our way through our challenges. My commitment in the therapeutic process is to a thoughtful understanding of how your experiences have brought you to this point and what the underlying causes of difficulty in your life are. Through our collaboration we work in an atmosphere of respect to deepen that understanding, reduce distress, create better ways of coping, promote healing, and structure changes that allow for greater balance and the possibility of joy.
I see adults, children, and adolescents in my practice and, along with individual therapy, I provide parenting consultations. My work focuses on many different concerns, including anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, loss, trauma, complex family issues, body image, giftedness, and the intersection of learning disabilities and emotional functioning.
Using my advanced postdoctoral training, I work primarily with a relational psychodynamic approach and integrate cognitive-behavioral techniques, developmental psychology, and family systems theory as needed. In addition to weekly therapy, I offer more intensive psychotherapy and psychoanalysis and consultations to schools.
