I work with clients who are motivated to free themselves from past traumas. You have an idea of where you want to be, but you realize that it is extremely hard to get there on your own given the lack of inner strengths, skill set or external support. It is not uncommon that we develop "learned helplessness" in repeated experiences of stress. Yet, the secret of "unstuck" is in understanding how human brain learns new things (i.e., moving beyond the past). My work with many clients has proved that a combination of trauma-informed approaches has been extremely effective in healing traumatized brains.
Therapists are not magicians, but together, you and I can do some magic work! That was proved repeatedly through my work with clients. Thanks to neuroscience, now we have a roadmap to help folks improve mental wellness. My practice integrates approaches informed by neuroscience, trauma work, and attachment theories to create substantial changes and healing.
Therapy is not easy, and change is not linear. In a society that says no to vulnerability, therapy is one of the most courageous yet rewarding journeys that one can take. That said, changes are not always the focus of therapy. Sometimes, we need therapy simply because life’s adversities are not supposed to be dealt with alone.
