My role is to assist individuals to attain therapy goals that result in an improved life. Any motivated person is capable of modifying beliefs and behaviors that get in the way of a more satisfying life. If you are depressed, anxious, or have relationship concerns, psychotherapy provides a setting to better understand yourself and offers techniques to facilitate changes. I also treat individuals experiencing losses or transitions to new life stages. Even desirable events such as; graduating college, developing significant relationships, or job and location changes, can be stressful.
The initial appointments involve my learning about you, clarifying your concerns, and developing treatment goals. The therapy I practise is an active collaboration. I frequently utilize cognitive-behavioral techniques to facilitate the desired changes. These techniques are easily learned and applicable to a wide range of concerns.
The treatment I provide can focus on reducing symptoms as well as enhancing self-understanding. Past history and experiences are important in helping us understand the present and then moving forward. The overall goal is that negative past experiences and beliefs no longer have the power to color your future.
