I believe in the wisdom within each of us and work to instill in each person a deep sense of self-respect and compassion. My work includes cognitive, psycho-spiritual, and expressive approaches. I use emotional release techniques for deep change in thinking and feeling patterns that interfere with current well-being and functioning. For addiction issues, I provide ear acupuncture and help people assess the extent of the problem and stop the harm. We then work through the recovery stages. For PTSD from childhood trauma or from military service I use several approaches, including Prolonged Exposure Therapy.
Addiction recovery promotes change in destructive behaviors, development of individual skills and self-confidence, and repair of broken relationships. Emotional release work is helpful in middle and late stages of recovery and is an essential part of trauma healing (childhood abuse/neglect, addictions, war). It frees us from the past.
I completed recent training in Prolonged Exposure Therapy from a collaboration that includes the Department of Deployment Psychology, and so am honored to be available for work with our wounded warriors. I also travelled, in 2006, to Viet Nam and participated in psycho-spiritual work with veterans there.
