Shae is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate. As a systemic therapist, she believes that our relationships with other people are what can give us the most meaning out of life, but that those relationships can also be the cause of a lot of problems. Shae’s main approach to therapy draws from Emotion Focused Therapy, but she also makes use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory, and techniques from the Gottman Institute. Shae believes that empathy and trust form the foundation of the therapeutic relationship. She employs a nonjudgmental, collaborative approach and strives to create a safe therapeutic environment.
Shae has experience working with adolescents, young adults, adults, families, and couples. Shae has also worked with a variety of presenting problems such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, family of origin issues, and several different relationship issues. Shae is particularly interested in working with couples in any relational stage, and is LGBTQ+ affirming.
Shae knows that every client has their own unique needs, and that change can be a very difficult process. Shae's goal is to create an environment where it is safe to explore growth and change, and also accommodates every client's unique needs. Shae also know that making the decision to begin therapy can be scary and is available to answer any questions.
