I am a therapist at Anxiety Solutions of Denver where I specialize in treating children, adolescents, and adults with anxiety disorders and OCD. My clients often explain that their anxiety and OCD have stripped them of their freedom and joy. Many have also tried traditional talk therapy and have felt hopeless by their lack of sustained progress. I am extremely grateful that I get to help these individuals reconnect with the courage required to live without constraints. Healing from these disorders calls for the guidance of a specialist in most cases. If you are ready to leave anxiety and OCD behind, I am here to help.

I grew up in Chicago where I studied Psychology and Philosophy at DePaul University. It was here that I fell in love with diversity, culture, and sport. This passion took me on adventures around the world to many countries where I continued to grow outside of my comfort zones. Eventually the traveling brought me to CO where I completed my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Colorado Christian University. Since then I have enjoyed adding diversity to my clinical skills by working in various outpatient and inpatient counseling settings.

When we are bogged down by stress, perfectionism, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or lack a sense of purpose, we disconnect from our inherent creativity. Perhaps you are navigating a tough transition, and struggle to see what you could create from it. Maybe there is a lot inside of you yearning to be expressed, but you feel stuck. I am passionate about working with artists, creatives, and/or deep feelers and thinkers dealing with anxiety, depression, perfectionism, stress, and/or overwhelm. I also love working with adults in their 20s and 30s navigating life transitions, and anyone moved to explore their creative potential.

You may appear to have it all together to those around you, but internally you are struggling not to fall apart. You have a hard time balancing everything that is going on in your life and feel overwhelmed. Depression and anxiety are normal for you, but recently you feel they have been controlling your day to day. You're noticing patterns that you can't seem to break out of on your own. You know that it can get better, what you’ve been doing isn’t working. You’re tired of feeling stuck and you are motivated to learn how to love yourself, how to cope with daily struggles, and how to unlearn and change what you experienced growing up.

Finding the right therapist is hard—harder than it ought to be. Especially when you’re already struggling. But it’s essential. The person of the therapist, their fit for you, and the therapeutic relationship are all more important to successful therapy than any degree, license, orientation, or even years of experience. Making the call and actually doing therapy is even harder—but worth it. Psychotherapy works. It can be one of the most significant and transformative experiences of your life. It's also a big investment of time, money and effort. I honor your courage and support your commitment to yourself to even consider it.

I have extensive knowledge in working with those who have a desire to increase their ability to navigate and process traumatic experiences, connect more meaningfully with their loved ones, and be more present and satisfied in their lives. Our typical clients are children and adolescents who are struggling with a specific change, transition, trauma incident, loss, or other stressor that is causing behavioral and emotional concerns, like defiance, anxiety, depression, self-harm, which interferes with school, home-life, and other relationships. Clients have goals to decrease behavioral concerns at home and school, improve emotions, coping skills, communication skills, and school performance. A lot of parents want their children to listen, respect, and connect and communicate with them. We also work with individual adults, families and couples.

My clients experience a whirlwind of speed and stress. Many of them feel stuck and seek comfort in external solutions like excessive work, toxic relationships, or substances, only to find these approaches lacking. They face the challenge of pausing to understand and address their internal needs, which can seem paradoxical. How do you slow down when there is so much to do? This struggle leads to increased stress, anxiety, and a pervasive sense of dissatisfaction with life. However, there is a way through all of this.

My approach to therapy is rooted in the belief that who you are makes sense. Even when your emotions, behaviors, or relationships are extremely different than what you want them to be, I believe that our feelings carry wisdom, our behaviors serve a function, and our current situation becomes clear in the context of our whole story. With this stance of curiosity and acceptance, I can help you understand the parts of your life that are causing distress and move toward the life you want to be living. I am an ideal fit for clients who want to make a change in their behavior while understanding the way those behaviors have functioned.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
