Do you find yourself back in the same negative situations with the same kind of people, over and over? Are you a 'people pleaser'? Do you take care of everyone else first? I often work with individuals, couples or families that struggle with saying 'no' and setting healthy boundaries. The people I work with generally want to feel more in control of their lives, learn to manage emotions effectively and have better relationships. With teenagers and young adults, I work together with them to bring balance into their lives, specifically because there are currently too many stressors for young people.
I often use emotion regulation skills building, from an approach called Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, with teens and young adults to support them with managing the stressors that come with growing up. Also, I have been trained in two different methods of trauma therapy, EMDR and Somatic Psychotherapy, which are also helpful for those with high anxiety.
I believe we all really need to be seen, heard, and understood. We do this when we turn toward each other for support, rather than seeking to do it all alone.
