My practice is grounded in science. There is a vast empirical literature on what makes good therapy effective, and that has shaped my practice. I've found over the years, though, that the more genuinely "me" I am in the therapy room, the more I'm able to help. So I mix the science with a healthy dose of compassion, laughter, and genuineness.
People come in to therapy for a wide variety of reasons: some want to establish and keep a connection to maintain their overall healthcare, whereas some want to just get in, work on a specific thing, and get out.
