Ashleigh Langheim is a Licensed Psycho-Educational Specialist, certified by the SC Board of Education as a School Psychologist II and by the National Association of School Psychologists as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. She completed her undergraduate studies at the College of Charleston, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, and obtained both a Master's degree and a Specialist degree in School Psychology from The Citadel. As a co-owner of Palmetto Assessments and Learning Services, she specializes in evaluating learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and giftedness.

As a Licensed Psychologist, I specialize in the assessment and treatment of children and young adults' academic, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. I specialize in evaluation and diagnosis of neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and specific learning disorder. I have worked extensively in school- and community-based settings and work extensively with school-age children, but also see preschoolers at risk for future school difficulties and adults seeking accommodations at their college/university due to attention and/or learning problems.

I am a therapist with 22 years of post graduate experience working with children, adolescents, adults, elderlies, couples, parents, and families. I am specialized in assisting children and adults who suffered traumatic experiences alleviate their inner suffering through the use of Internal Family Systems model, combined with psychodynamic theory, mindfulness, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. And very unique lately: mindfulness groups for teenagers to assist in coping with overwhelming emotions.

It can be tough to provide co-regulation when you're feeling heightened as well. My goal to help & encourage others grew out of teaching, training, & serving children, youth, & parents for more than 20 years in the education and ministry fields. It can feel like an endless cycle of battling anxiety, depression, and self-doubt, leaving us feeling stuck in a hamster wheel of stress. While we prioritize relationships with others, it's equally crucial to nurture our relationship with ourselves. I have many years experience working with adults and children suffering from depression, anxiety, OCD, anger issues, trauma, and abuse. I have also worked in the field of drug and alcohol addiction. After my graduate studies, my primary focus and training was working with children suffering from ADHD, ODD, depression, and anxiety. I used behavioral management coupled with parenting strategies to improve the overall parent/child relationship. I gained incredible knowledge and insight regarding chronic pain as well as grief and loss while working with the elderly population through home health care and hospice.

Dr. Lockard was awarded her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, Illinois. She completed her internship at the Kentucky Department of Corrections where she focused on the treatment of male and female sex offender treatment. Her experience includes years of forensic and clinical treatment and evaluation in out-patient, in-patient, and correctional settings. Such experiences include: Community Mental Health Clinics, Autism Clinics, County and Psychiatric Hospitals, and state behavioral and social services agencies. Her areas of expertise (all bilingual) include: clinical, criminal forensic, psychosexual, and neuropsychological assessment and treatment.

Each person has his or her own unique story, and this requires the therapist to place himself or herself aside and create a safe space for the client to explore and heal. As I work towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist, I enjoy working with a wide range of clientele including children, families, couples, and individuals. It would be a privilege to come along side you and talk with you about your journey in a judgment-free space where you feel both comfortable and safe.

I enjoy working with those that are "misunderstood". This is generally those with ADHD and Autism or even teens who are in the LGBTQ+ community or going through a major life change (i.e turning 18, going to college). It could even be compounded by trauma. My main goal through therapy is to work towards exploring how life experiences may have contributed to your perception of self. The ultimate goal for my clients is acceptance. Whether that's accepting themselves, their past, or what they can/cannot control.
