Overcoming obstacles or major life changes can be extremely stressful. I understand that being your authentic self and building\maintaining strong connections are important elements of living a meaningful life. Acknowledging, understanding, and healing traumatic experiences is painful to do, especially alone. Trauma can cause anxiety, depression, hopelessness, and broken relationships.

I've chosen to seek out additional trainings in trauma-informed practices and continue to develop my expertise in a holistic approach to releasing the painful memories stored by the body and breaking damaging cycles.
Many of my clients come in to therapy wanting to overcome stress and hard emotions, or break painful patterns in their relationships. I often work with clients who have felt hurt by their relationships due to harsh words, addiction or leaving when they needed them. For many, the first goals involve understanding how others' actions have impacted them, and who they are outside of that impact. My goal is for clients to find clarity and feel empowered to choose for themselves their next step forward.

My prior experiences working in behavioral health hospitals, substance abuse and sexual health clinics have led me to specialize in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, sexual health concerns, and addiction.
Hi there - My name is Amanda! I believe therapy is one of the most important spaces you can enter and I aim to honor that by meeting you where you are, connecting with an empathetic approach, and acknowledging the strength it takes to heal. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to do what I love and have had the incredible honor of working with many amazing adolescents and adults who have experienced various life experiences, mental health, and substance abuse concerns. I have found that humans are resilient; sometimes we just need an advocate, support system, and sounding board along the way-I hope to be just that for you!

I am a certified trauma therapist, Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, Yoga instructor, creative and Mom of 2 - who is not new to the realization that life is HARD.
Therapy is a tool that helps us to identify when our past is influencing how we see, feel, or respond to the present moment. Our emotional history plays a huge role in our present lives. It impacts our thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and creates the patterns we fall into. It shapes the partners be become and the partners we pick. It becomes a weight we carry into our future. Life is a winding road full of MANY transitions. I believe the space a therapist holds should provide a consistent, nonjudgmental, and protected space to unpack what you are carrying.

I work with Adults, Young Adults, and Couples on a wide range of issues and difficulties. Some specific interests include anxiety and depression, self -esteem, trauma, regulating emotions, relationship and communication problems, divorce, life transitions, grief, and parenting issues. I value a collaborative environment to develop new insights and strategies to manage stressors, process emotions, enhance strengths and implement effective life changes. Difficulties processing emotions and a lack of coping skills can keep people feeling 'stuck' and be a barrier to experiencing growth and joy in life.

Therapy may allow you to break free of past hurts, negative relational patterns, and trauma.
Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed or wondering why relationships tend to feel so difficult? Do you find that you beat yourself up with self-criticism? Life can be challenging, and we may feel that we have to just keep going and suck it up, which may lead us to feel lonelier and more overwhelmed. In my experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor, and previous experience as a yoga instructor I have found that the combination of mindfulness, self-awareness, and processing trauma can be quite powerful in finding our authentic selves.

Are you a couple struggling to understand each other? Parents worried about your children? Maybe your faith is changing and you struggle to understand yourself as your once solid worldview shifts. Maybe you have experienced trauma and you can’t just “forgive” like everyone wants you to. None of this is your fault, and there is hope!

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
