These include evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention ( ERP), which is considered the gold standard for OCD/anxiety treatment, and Solution Focused Therapy.
My work is shaped by my training and experience. I specialize in adults and adolescents/pre-teens who suffer with OCD and anxiety disorders such as panic attacks, hair pulling, skin picking, general/social anxiety, agoraphobia, and other phobias. While OCD/anxiety is my primary specialty, it often occurs with other issues such as depression, life changes/transitions, like divorce, pregnancy, work or school, all of which can be difficult to face without help. When we suffer from anxiety based issues, we can often miss or lose the joy that is present in our lives. I am here to help you get your life back from the grips of OCD/anxiety.

I use evidence-based Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) and art and play therapy with clients who struggle with OCD and Anxiety to help them go from feeling paralyzed to being confident in their ability to overcome these problematic thoughts and behaviors.
You've been struggling long enough with persistent, unwanted thoughts and repetitive behaviors. You tell yourself, "If only I could focus more, get more organized, and get my act together..." You feel like it used to be manageable. Still, now your lack of focus, hyperactivity, and impulsivity are getting in the way of your work, relationships, friendships, school, and other responsibilities—And you are no longer able to navigate these challenges. You dream of reducing your anxiety, improving your daily functioning, ridding yourself of intrusive thoughts, improving your focus and organization, and desire for independence & wellness.

On most days, you’re the one giving the help, not asking for it. You are the person your family, coworkers, and friends come to when there is a crisis or they need advice. After years of being the rock for loved ones, on top of trying to manage your own life, you now find yourself exhausted, feeling depleted, and struggling to maintain this role you've performed for so long. You feel like you're on the edge - if you don’t do something now you worry you’ll unravel.

I am clinically credentialed in both New Jersey (telehealth only) and South Carolina (telehealth/in-person). In my practice, I am focused on supporting you to meet your self-determined goals. So many times we delay prioritizing what we really want; whether that is to resolve past trauma, restore relationships, improve communication, learn better parenting practices, support our family members, reduce symptoms, or increase our quality of life. With support, we are all able to reflect on and discern how to achieve our goals. I can provide a rich history of understanding trauma, healing, hope, and change.

I specialize in working with millennial professionals who look like they have their shit together, but in reality are overwhelmed by their anxiety and the weight of feeling like a "failure." Together we can help you dial down the anxiety and impact of ADHD. While we're at it, we can ditch the perfectionism and people pleasing, because your wants and needs are valid. We can even help you learn to accept yourself for who you are, instead of judging yourself based on your productivity.

Are you struggling with intrusive thoughts that are distressing, disturbing, or confusing and you're noticing that getting rid of these thoughts are very difficult, despite your many efforts? You may be struggling with obsessive-compulsive disorder. OCD is one of the most misdiagnosed mental illnesses and can also be one of the most debilitating. This is why I've devoted my practice to understanding and effectively treating OCD. OCD is much bigger than handwashing and straightening pictures on the wall. If you believe you may be struggling with OCD, reach out and we can determine together.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists

Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?

Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?

Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?

While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?

The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
