I have been a therapist in the counseling field since 2015, working in diverse settings like: substance abuse treatment facility, accountability court, community behavioral health center, and with DFCS and DJJ youth in a community and group home setting. I started my telehealth private practice in 2022, and specialize in treating trauma. I have a heart for helping hurting people through evidence based empowerment modalities, and assisting people to tap into their inner resilience to overcome all types of life challenges. I work from an empathic, non-judgmental model to meet my clients where they and to get where they want to be.

I think absolutely everyone can benefit from a positive therapeutic relationship. We all have times in our lives where we are unsure of where we are going and how to get there. Getting professional help is not a sign of weakness but rather a choice to focus on becoming the best version of ourselves. That may mean healing old wounds and recognizing old patterns that may be holding us back or it may mean getting assistance with prioritizing and partializing tasks that have led to us feeling overwhelmed. Therapy allows us to learn and use the tools necessary to make those positive changes.

My focus is on meeting each person where they are at; seeing their uniqueness and strengths and using these as the foundations for bringing about desired change, acceptance, and helping one see their own strengths. I have a variety of tools in my therapeutic "tool box" and strive to use the tools/techniques that resonate most for each individual. For some it may be a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach or Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), others Mindfulness, and still others spirituality, somatic work, imagery, or art process may resonate... usually it is a combination of several.

Book with me now by clicking on my website. My therapy style is warm and interactive. I am a firm believer that the relationship between the client and therapist is essential to achieve positive outcomes. We all have abilities and strengths, which are powerful catalysts for resilience and change. While my clinical practice utilizes systems and methods for solving problems through research based treatment interventions, I highly regard being where you are during our discussion to meet your specific needs. I am passionate about increasing understanding and decreasing stigma related to mental health.

I have extensive experience working with individuals who experience trauma, depression, and anxiety to help them live without fear and sadness running their lives. Sadness and fear do not have to be daily emotions. Things happen in our lives that create uncertainty for what the future will be like. Happiness, inner peace, and feelings of safety are things we all deserve. Therapy is about finding solutions to help you improve areas of your life that you are struggling with. Therapy can also help you process traumatic events that have happened in your past or present, resulting in feelings of depression and anxiety.

As a Licensed Social Worker, my mission is to help you find a healthy direction in life. There is power and potential in all of us for healing and growth. I assist my clients in understanding the interplay of the thoughts, feelings and behaviors that contribute to the distress in their lives. Clients begin to find hope when recognizable patterns emerge. Hope grows when these patterns are understood and accepted in the context of their past experiences. Change occurs with ongoing feedback, practice and encouragement. Challenging times can offer opportunity for self discovery and enhancement.

Strength-Based Therapists

How does strength-based therapy work?

During strength-based therapy sessions, the therapist will ask about an individual’s experiences of stress, pain, or trauma with the goal of orienting the client to view themselves as a survivor rather than a victim, and focusing on their strengths rather than on their weaknesses. In framing a client’s personal narrative along these lines, the therapist and client work together to identify existing skills that can be harnessed.

Is strength-based therapy evidence-based?

Strength-based therapy is an evidence-based treatment that has been studied extensively and shown to be effective across domains. The treatment has been found to be particularly effective in helping individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Strength-based therapy has been used by therapists to help clients for more than 60 years.

How long does strength-based therapy last?

There’s no precise timeline for strength-based therapy. The duration of treatment depends on the individual’s specific needs and goals and the severity of their concerns. Some individuals may find they achieve their therapeutic goals quickly, while others might benefit from ongoing support and guidance in order to continue progressing.

How effective is strength-based therapy?

Clinical research and decades of practice have shown strength-based therapy to be an effective treatment to improve mental health and well-being for many conditions. The treatment can engender a sense of connection and collaboration between the therapist and the individual, fostering a positive therapeutic relationship. For individuals with narcissistic tendencies, strength-based therapy may be less effective, as the focus on the individual’s strengths may undermine the work needed to honestly assess the challenges the individual faces.
