With over 30 years’ experience and expertise in trauma, resilience and life coaching, I can assist with many of life's challenges.
Most people seeking help want a therapist or coach who is a good listener, someone who is empathetic and can tailor the therapeutic approach to match their individual needs, challenges and goals. You will find these values and behaviors reflected in my work. My priorities are to gain trust, create a strong partnership and build upon your strengths, talents and skills. If you or a loved one is struggling with depression or anxiety, relationship issues, life transitions; experiencing stress, loss or a crisis; or feel burdened by a physical health concern such as Alzheimer’s Disease, you are not alone.

I am an active yoga practitioner and my training in Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TC-TSY) informs my clinical philosophy and therapeutic approach.
You may currently feel less confident, creative, or connected. Your body or physical health may be pushing you to address your well-being from a different angle. Ultimately, you likely want to experience some new understanding or growth. In therapy, we will come to understand your symptoms as signals and we will make space for your core yearnings and your meaningful process. My aim is to help you clear your path towards thriving outside of therapy room.

I have worked with adolescents, adults and older individuals struggling with mood difficulties, substance use issues, family problems, grief, poor self image, trauma, etc.
As a licensed social worker, my main objective is to focus on the strengths each person already has and the areas in which he or she wants to improve. If you are looking for extra support, you are the one setting goals and I will help you look at ways to achieve them. Each person is an individual who may be having a hard time with certain areas and not a patient who fits a "standard mold." We all struggle with difficulties in life, and now may be a time that you can use some help.

I work with adults using a psychodynamic approach (looking at how the past effects the present), while also taking into account thoughts and behaviors (CBT & DBT) in order to help individuals make change. I work with individuals who are experiencing effects from trauma, who want to improve their relationships, further explore themselves & the roles they play in their world, women’s issues, anxiety, & life transitions. I also offer Neurofeedback training and Ketamine assisted therapy which can be great complements to talk therapy if you have struggled to make progress and are open to experiencing big changes in your life!

I'm a queer-affirming therapist with a background in theological studies adept at working with the intersection of queer identity and religious trauma, as well as faith transition or changes.
Depression and anxiety in postmodern life can leave us feeling fragmented and lonely. Life as a queer person facing adverse religious messaging or feelings of anxiety around climate change can feel especially isolating in a southern context. I work with individual adults seeking support for religious trauma, faith transition, queer identity/life, climate anxiety/depression, and high sensitivity. I also work with general issues and use a variety of holistic approaches including internal family systems and EMDR to catalyze deep and lasting healing.

You feel like you keep repeating the same patterns over and over again. From a bird's eye view, you can understand it. You can pinpoint how the past has affected your present, but you're wondering why you can't change your issues yourself. Anxious thoughts and a rollercoaster of emotions keep you feeling out of control. You feel secure in your relationship but your self-worth doesn't match your situation. On top of that, you're still dealing with all of the extra stressors coming from balancing work, family, and your social life. Everyone else sees you as thriving but you feel like your head is barely above water.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
