Congratulations on taking the first step of your journey! Finding the right therapist is not easy. I hope to give you enough information to determine whether or not we would be a good fit. I provide services in both English and Spanish. I have extensive experience providing individual, family, and group therapy to children, adolescents and adults of diverse racial/ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. I also provide consultation services for parents with children with Individual Education Plan (IEP) and collaborate with your child's school to maximize their educational potential.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have worked in private practice in the Clemson area for over twenty years. My practice includes adults, adolescents, families, and couples. I work with a variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship issues, as well as matters related to sexual orientation and gender identity. Fundamental to this is my belief that we are all individuals who affect and are affected by our families, groups of which we are a part, and the larger society. The variety of techniques I employ are all in the service of empowering my clients as they work toward healing.

As you know, our neurodivergent teens need our help—yours, mine, and the help of so many others. I know because not only am I an ASD Clinical Specialist, I’m a mother of two boys with ASD. So, finding me here, you’ve taken a large step in getting the assistance your family needs from someone that shares your story, knows your needs, your wants, and your desires. Dr. Lockard was awarded her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, Illinois. She completed her internship at the Kentucky Department of Corrections where she focused on the treatment of male and female sex offender treatment. Her experience includes years of forensic and clinical treatment and evaluation in out-patient, in-patient, and correctional settings. Such experiences include: Community Mental Health Clinics, Autism Clinics, County and Psychiatric Hospitals, and state behavioral and social services agencies. Her areas of expertise (all bilingual) include: clinical, criminal forensic, psychosexual, and neuropsychological assessment and treatment.

I aim to make the counseling experience comfortable, safe, and supportive, while also pushing clients to set and achieve goals they may never have thought were possible. Specialization includes the treatment of anxiety and related challenges in children, adolescents and adults. Services are focused on awakening inner potential, strengthening relationships and organizing the world in ways that help clients overcome challenges and meet their own individual life goals.

When you or a family member are struggling emotionally, it can affect all aspects of your life. My therapy practice is dedicated to helping adults, kids and families tackle the issues that are causing them stress. I find that therapeutic support can help people get through rough periods and keep them on track for healthy development. My specialties are in the areas of adult mood difficulties, adolescent stress, and clinical supervision. I also provide short-term CBT-I, an evidence based treatment for chronic insomnia.

Whether psychological assessment or psychotherapy, I truly enjoy and embrace diversity in my practice, with regard to clients and their clinical needs. In addition to psychotherapy services, I perform a myriad of psychological assessments including neurocognitive, psychoeducational, diagnostic clarification, parental fitness, disability assessments, etc. My work with the family court includes co-parenting sessions, reunification counseling, and individual psychotherapy as needed, in addition to expert testimony and other court services as needed.

Individuals I work with are tired of being tired, tired of anxious thoughts keeping you up at night. You may feel stuck in the cycle of unhealthy behaviors, the effects of trauma, or having difficulty asking for what you want and need. It may be hard to even know what you want or need. But you want something different. I see my role as a guide for you. I focus on helping you reconnect to your wise, compassionate and loving self. Having this connection will give you the clarity, confidence and compassion and connection you've been looking for.
