Your well being relies on achieving balance in all aspects of your life. When one or more parts of your life are experiencing conflict or trauma it can affect your physical, mental, or spiritual well being. Relationship issues, anxiety, depression, feeling overwhelmed, lack of motivation and grief can be detrimental to ones wellness. I will provide a space of understanding and support that seeks to allow you an atmosphere of positive growth. The way we will achieve growth is to work together and develop the type of therapy outlet that fits you and your needs.

Henry Haskins stated, “What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” This quote represents my approach to therapy: we have the power to change our trajectories and rewrite our narrative. I cling to this truth while also recognizing that life, at times, is hard and unfair. Seeking support is a hard thing to do, but it is also one of the bravest choices we can make for ourselves. I'm here for the recovering people pleasers, the confused college student, the person struggling in their relationships, and everything in between. If any of this resonates with you, I'd love to connect.

I specialize in children and adolescents ages 6-18 with a friendly, supportive, safe, and family inclusive approach. Growing up is hard, especially in a world that seems to change by the second. Technology, education, and socialization are radically different from what we knew as young people, so it makes sense that you may feel confused about how to help your child with behavioral, school, self-esteem, identity, or other issues that can drastically impact their development and limit their future potential. If you feel that your child or teen needs that support and would benefit from someone to talk to, please reach out.

Trauma is, unfortunately, a very prevalent issue in our world. It can impact our sense of safety, ability to connect with others in a healthy manner and self esteem. Learning the natural responses to trauma as well as our triggers, cues and strategies to regulate helps to increase our ability to gain control over symptoms and respond to current life experiences instead of reacting. Survivors can incorporate their experience as a piece of their life story as opposed to feeling as if they are defined by their trauma.

You are looking for empathy and compassion, when going through struggles. It feels so frustrating when you can't find the right support. The support you deserve! You desire a therapist that you can trust and you feel connected to. This is what I strive for in our sessions. I want to create a comfortable atmosphere, where you are able to share whatever is most important to you presently. I place importance on the guidance you provide me, in regard to what you feel is the current presenting problem and how you would like to approach that. I ensure that our sessions are not only a safe place but a judgment-free zone, as well.

I believe that one of the bravest things that you can do is begin to understand and take control of your life story. Though reaching out for counseling is oftentimes intimidating, it can also be the beginning of something great, in which you identify the obstacles in your life and bring yourself greater fulfillment. If you've noticed yourself feeling stuck, without motivation, and in need of a plan, I'll be there to listen and help you take the steps towards discovering the new you.

So many young adults are struggling to adjust to new experiences like going to college and moving out. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed just thinking about living on your own and wondering how your friends are so easily moving out of their parents’ home. College sounds like a logical next step and you’re wondering how to make the leap. The idea of landing a job may seem scary and intimidating. Relationships with friends and partners may also be changing, leaving you lonely and uncertain. This can all result in your friends moving on with their lives and you feeling left behind.

Strength-Based Therapists

How does strength-based therapy work?

During strength-based therapy sessions, the therapist will ask about an individual’s experiences of stress, pain, or trauma with the goal of orienting the client to view themselves as a survivor rather than a victim, and focusing on their strengths rather than on their weaknesses. In framing a client’s personal narrative along these lines, the therapist and client work together to identify existing skills that can be harnessed.

Is strength-based therapy evidence-based?

Strength-based therapy is an evidence-based treatment that has been studied extensively and shown to be effective across domains. The treatment has been found to be particularly effective in helping individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Strength-based therapy has been used by therapists to help clients for more than 60 years.

How long does strength-based therapy last?

There’s no precise timeline for strength-based therapy. The duration of treatment depends on the individual’s specific needs and goals and the severity of their concerns. Some individuals may find they achieve their therapeutic goals quickly, while others might benefit from ongoing support and guidance in order to continue progressing.

How effective is strength-based therapy?

Clinical research and decades of practice have shown strength-based therapy to be an effective treatment to improve mental health and well-being for many conditions. The treatment can engender a sense of connection and collaboration between the therapist and the individual, fostering a positive therapeutic relationship. For individuals with narcissistic tendencies, strength-based therapy may be less effective, as the focus on the individual’s strengths may undermine the work needed to honestly assess the challenges the individual faces.
