I get so excited to watch clients learn more about themselves, build self confidence and grow as individuals. The transformations I have witnessed in the people I have worked with over the years is amazing and awe inspiring. Emotional pain can be incredibly difficult to deal with, especially on one’s own. Depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, low self-esteem and shame are just some of the common issues I have helped guide clients through on their journey to a more positive and satisfying life. Ultimately, we all deserve to feel better about ourselves and learn to care for ourselves in a more kind and accepting way.
I tend to use an eclectic focus with clients, utilizing modalities that help them. I generally use a “casual” CBT style, which addresses a person’s thoughts and emotions and assists the client in changing negative emotions into more positive or realistic. I am client centered and strengths based in my approach and believe laughter is wonderful medicine.
Initiating therapy can be very intimidating. It can be hard to start talking about your pain, shame, or feeling “less than”. In my years as a therapist there is not much I have not heard. I want clients I work with to feel at ease with the therapy process, and I see each client as an individual, deserving of acceptance and respect, value and understanding.
