Our emotions and how we make sense of them can change dramatically over time. You may find yourself having new feelings about something that happened a long time ago; wanting to more deeply engage with an experience you have been carrying for many years; or struggling to adapt to a new circumstance in your life. We can sometimes get stuck relying on the solutions we developed to cope in earlier parts of our lives in ways that are no longer working well for us. In my work, I seek to support you in learning about your experiences, responses, and needs in a way that fosters growth and a greater understanding of yourself.
I think of therapy as an exploration we embark on together. I believe you are the expert in your own experience and will follow your lead about what feels important. My job is to encourage you to continue unfolding your own experience and, through this, to come to new understandings about your life and the meaning you make of it.
Therapy is unlike any other setting or relationship in our lives. Opening yourself up in a therapeutic relationship can feel daunting, but you will not be alone in this process. By creating a safe and containing space, my goal is for you to feel that you have a companion on this journey, wherever it might take you.
