Choosing a psychotherapist is a very important decision. Talking to someone new about yourself can be intimidating. I provide a setting that is comfortable, safe, and completely confidential. I ask what brings you to see me and what kind of help you feel you need. Sometimes it can be helpful to interview other professionals. Finding a good match is essential and my interest is always in what is best for the client. I do my best to make treatment recommendations and provide services most likely to help you.
The formation of a positive therapeutic relationship is the basis of successful treatment. I work from an interpersonal perspective that emphasizes the importance of your participation in the development and implementation of a treatment plan and therapeutic process that best serves your unique situation and needs.
My work is greatly enhanced by range of education and experience. I received an MSSW in 1977 and worked in community mental health for 5 years. My Ph.D. included a one year internship with the Veterans Administration. In 2003 I graduated from the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute in psychoanalysis.
