I believe we all get into a relationship to feel connected to someone and to be able to grow and share our lives with another human. When we don’t connect, we feel uncomfortable. Whether it’s because of communication issues, different schedules, differences in parenting, or ways of managing stress; if our partner doesn’t understand us, we feel alone. My role as therapist is to help you identify what you want different in your life.
In 2012, I've received extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy where I focused on couples. In 2020, I broadened my skill set and received training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). It's an evidenced based therapy used to treat trauma. I have found it has helped clients make better sense of their past traumas and find peace.
I was raised here in Va Beach, attended undergraduate school in VA and then moved to San Diego to pursue my goals. In San Diego, I got my graduate degree from San Diego State University, receiving my MS in Counseling–Marriage and Family Therapy in 2008. I moved back to Virginia to complete my residency. I'm excited to help you figure out your next steps.
