Sandie has a passion for helping people from all walks of life, in all stages of life. She believes by creating a safe, welcoming environment, and building trusting relationships change is possible. Sandie has experience working with a variety of mental health diagnoses including anxiety, depression, bipolar, borderline personality, and ASD. She is also rostered with Hackett Center for trauma and grief in adolescents.
Before entering the counseling field, Sandie was a special education teacher for 9 years where she gained extensive knowledge in best practices for working with individuals with special needs, and the ability to differentiation based on needs of the individual and has a passion for helping to advocate for their needs in different settings.
She obtained her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies as well as her master’s in social work from Texas State University. She completed internships with intensive outpatient group therapy providing CBT, DBT, and psycho-education, as well as working with adults with autism in work settings to help them develop self-advocacy skills.
