Originally licensed in 1988, I've been in private practice since 1997 in Chattanooga, TN. I focus on crisis intervention and short-term psychotherapy to get clients stabilized and back out enjoying life ASAP. I do a thorough assessment of life to know past and current events may be impacting your current situation. I see life situations as developmental - not always pathological, thus I use education and learning to address life's challenges. While it's not all about your parents, one's history does play a major role in how we learn to cope with life. Be ready to learn some new ways to cope with people and various life events.
I specialize in short-term therapy - my goal is to get you back out in life and enjoying as much as possible. I also specialize in crisis intervention - for everything from life crisis, grief, death, adjustment, suicide, homicide, human trafficking, disaster, medical crisis, etc. I completed a post-doctoral residency at Erlanger's Level 1 Trauma Center.
Life can be tough. Lots of expected and unexpected ups and downs, and abrupt left and right turns. Sometimes things come too quickly and overwhelm us. I can't make your life's situations disappear, but I can help you find ways to cope with life events so that you can regain your positive momentum to be the best you possible. This group addresses the unique aspects of living life after the suicidal death of a loved one. Psychological support will be provided as you continue with life given this tragic occurrence. Education will be provided to learn the warning signs of suicide and how to intervene. Local, national, and international resources will be shared.
