I am a psychologist in the Tysons Corner area and have been seeing clients for 34 years. My goal is to create a therapy experience that feels respectul, supportive, safe and yet challenging. As a therapist I work in a number of ways. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, because I believe strongly in the power of words. One goal is to identify self-destructive thought patterns and to develop new empowering patterns. I also use insight therapy to release the hold of old perceptions and feelings which are no longer helpful and to consciously choose the life you want now.
I see mostly adults (both in individual and couples therapy) and older adolescents. Some of the areas I work with include depression, anxiety, panic, OCD, bipolar disorder, relationship issues, grief issues, life transition issues,and stress. My goal is to help clients improve their confidence, coping skills, and emotional feeling of well-being.
I have had postgraduate training in the use of guided imagery. These techniques can be used to heal past feelings, to improve self-esteem. to practice new behaviors, and to explore future goals. I also teach stress reduction techniques such as relaxation to provide tools for use in real life.
