I work with individuals and couples who are struggling with some aspect of daily living - relationships, family, job; or who face a crisis such as illness or loss. I work to help clients understand the emotions, beliefs, and behaviors that may contribute to their difficulties. Strategies that have been adaptive or protective at an earlier time may no longer be needed and may interfere with life satisfaction. I have a flexible approach designed to strengthen coping skills and to foster resilience. My work involves both careful listening and active collaboration, with a focus on each person's unique history.
I address specific concerns such as anxiety, depression, loss and trauma, as well as more general struggles to generate meaning and vitality in work, relationships, and life experience.
I have been practicing psychotherapy for over 20 years, and I teach and supervise clinical psychology graduate students. Feel free to reach out to me by phone or by email if you are considering whether psychotherapy is the right choice for you.
