The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a transformative, evidence-based music therapy rooted in the Polyvagal Theory. It’s designed to help your nervous system move out of states of dysregulation—whether you’re experiencing underactivity (e.g., depression, inattention, impulsivity, social inhibition), overactivity (e.g., anxiety, emotional dysregulation, sleep issues), or complex dysregulation (e.g., sensory issues, food sensitivity, trauma, social difficulties). As a powerful adjunct to regular therapy, SSP can be conveniently completed at home and on your own schedule, offering flexibility and comfort.
The Safe and Sound Protocol regulates a dysfunctional nervous system by targeting the vagus nerve, a key part of the parasympathetic system. Using specially filtered music delivered via headphones, it activates the vagus nerve, leading to improved regulation, fostering calmness, balance, and enhancing your overall emotional and physical well-being.
