The therapeutic approach I use is cognitive behavioral therapy by assessing the client's thoughts, emotions, and behaviors related to the presenting issue and which assists in reframing the negative thinking. I use motivational interviewing to explore clients' experiences, perspectives, and ideas to help you feel empowered and excited for a change. I use grief therapy to help clients process their grief by using talk therapy as well as teaching clients about the grief process.
My communication style is calm and assertive which is direct and straightforward, respecting others' needs and wants.
I approach goal setting with clients by taking into consideration clients' desired outcomes. Once a desired outcome is outlined, we set SMART goals that are specific, measurable achievable, relevant, and time-bound. A goal plan is then developed in which the goals are broken down into actionable steps to assist clients in accomplishing goals.
