My approach is based on Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), combining mindfulness and behavioral techniques with a contextual perspective, honoring the human capacity for self-direction and change. We may also use techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy or exposure and response prevention as needed to develop new skills and patterns of response.
I am trained in evidence-based methods, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD, CBT for Insomnia, and as a teacher of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). I also bring an appreciation for and understanding of social/cultural context, with an MA in Anthropology and a multicultural background.
