My approach to therapy is strength-based, focused, humanistic and highly individualized. I work to establish mutually agreed upon wellness and recovery goals. Treatment in this supportive, encouraging environment builds upon the client's creativity and helps them to discover internal and external coping resources. I have found my gentle but firm approach to be highly successful in working with depression, relationship difficulties, anxiety, stress, and adjustment difficulties. I have over thirty years of professional experience working with individuals, couples and groups. Helping families cope with the challenges of mental illness is a personal specialty.
I have worked with families coping with mental illness, both with the families and in support groups. My experience as both an inpatient and outpatient clinician has provided me with a unique perspective on the challenges faced by these families. I deeply appreciate their need for resources, support and understanding.
I have a certification in Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama, and can provide group work training. I specialize in the action techniques devised by Jacob Moreno which focus heavily on support, inclusiveness, and creativity. I am certified to provide supervision for licensed social workers seeking to achieve clinical licensing.
