While no two clients' circumstances, struggles, or concerns have ever been exactly the same, in my career I have found a central theme in what seems shared universally by those seeking support: Confusion. Why am I this way? Why are they this way? Why is this happening to me? What can I do? My practice is built on the belief that a trusting relationship can offer the space needed for better understanding. With insight, more thoughtful, actionable change can be enacted, when ready. Digging through complexity together with the seriousness and focus it deserves, but not without humor and flexibility, is paramount in my work.
Mood and anxiety, relationship struggles, trauma, and life transitions all fall into areas of expertise. I also have specific training and experience in health psychology, namely in insomnia and other sleep concerns. I use tools and techniques from different traditions of psychotherapy, without losing sight of my clients' goals, preferences, and input.
While not all of life's challenges have a concrete answer, I have endeavored my career to supporting those seeking meaning, insight, and action in the most confusing and often painful times of their lives. Therapy is never a comfortable or easy step to make. It has been a privilege to work with those pursing a more rich, full and meaningful life.
