I am a dually licensed psychoanalyst and creative art therapist in clinical practice for over 40 years. My experience includes working with adolescents as the Clinical Director of the Henry Street School, 1973-1980, and I am currently on the faculty of the College of New Rochelle, Graduate Art Therapy Program, and have been a Visiting Professor at Pratt Institute, as well as on the faculty of the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis and the Institute for Expressive Analysis, where I am currently President. My current work with adults reflects my integration of creative process within the framework of psychoanalysis.
I work with clients to help them discover their unconscious and learn how repressed material tends to be acted out in one's life often in repeatedly dysfunctional behavior. My treatment format often includes creative processing of dreams and the integration of expressive forms of communication within the analytic framework.
My years of clinical work with both private clients and graduate students has given me an opportunity to explore the integration of creativity within a clinical and classroom environment and continuously refine my approach.
