I joined the counseling field because I wanted to help destigmatize mental health for men, specifically Black men. I work with teens as young as 16 and adults of all ages. I love working with couples and families to help build cohesiveness and understanding. An outdated version of masculinity has contributed to the decline of mental health for men for many years. It is okay to seek help and understand yourself better.
As an LPC intern I am able to see clients for free, a reduced rate, or those with Medicaid insurance under the supervision of a fully licensed therapist. I will be completing my internship in the fall and my clients will have an opportunity to continue working with me once I am licensed therapist.
Men, it is okay to seek therapy. It is not weak in any way. Working on your mental health makes you a better man.
