Families are a good source of strength but they can also get stuck in unproductive patterns of behavior and interaction which are challenging to change. I help families break these difficult cycles by working with them to identify goals and establish plans and milestones to achieve them. I apply over 25 years of experience as I empower struggling individuals, couples, and families facing marital issues, divorce, anxiety, depression, and children/adolescents with self-destructive behaviors or ADD/ADHD as well as many other mental health issues. I also specialize in working with diagnoses of oppositional defiant and conduct disorders.
My approach focuses on Structural Family Therapy. I often work with families/couples who meet with me as a last resort, having tried other approaches to therapy. I integrate gaining an understanding of family strengths as well as addressing patterns that create difficulty and assume families can create lasting change after a short time in therapy.
I continually refine my therapeutic skillset. I advise and train other therapists as well as lecture at hospitals and universities and bring this experience back to my practice. I serve on the Board of Directors for the Minuchin Center for the Family and contribute to the ongoing development and instruction of Structural Family Therapy training.
