NOTE: the only insurances I accept are the student insurances for Brown University and Tufts University students. I help students, artists, athletes, and other high-level performers bring out the best in themselves and each other. I specialize in healing trauma, anxiety, creative and performance blocks, existential and relationship issues, and the impacts of social forces on mental health. I tend to fit well with patients who are smart, creative, funny, introspective, curious, and ready for change.

Working with children and adolescents brings up various treatment needs and goals in therapy. Through CBT, DBT, MBSR, PCIT, mentalization based therapeutic strategies and educational resources, role-playing, arts and play therapy as well as self-help worksheets, young clients will be able to develop appropriate expressive skills to share their wants and needs. Parents can collaborate in treatment by proactively learning parenting skills to best engage with their children and adolescents by becoming more responsive in establishing and maintaining secure attachment through consistently building on healthy, nurturing relationships.

I most enjoy working with adults struggling with addiction, anxiety, mood disorders, and relationship issues. You may be experiencing loss of enjoyment, relational difficulties, financial struggles, or low motivation. If you hope to find your voice and look more deeply within to resolve any conflicts which may be holding you back, I'd love to work with you. Together we can work toward addressing the impact of your mental health diagnosis and/or stressors in your life. My approach is person-centered: meeting my clients where they are and helping identify areas they would like to explore.

Renee M Desaulniers, LMHC, LCDP, CCDP, has over 40 years of experience working with diverse populations and conditions. She held a clinical therapist position at the RI State Psychiatric Hospital, clinical therapist at Butler Psychiatric Hospital Outpatient, Groden Center for Autistic Children and Young Adults, Meadows Edge Recovery Center and as a social Caseworker II at the Department of Youth and Family Services.

If you have experienced a trauma, I would love to work with you. Helping clients heal from trauma, which includes managing their stress and anxiety, is my area of expertise. Additionally, I’ll work with you to improve your self-esteem, improve your quality of sleep, and strengthen your relationships with others. This is especially true with couples (e.g., positive communication, strengthening bonds, improving sexual health/managing intimacy issues). In addition to individuals who have experienced sexual trauma, I particularly enjoy working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, children and adolescents, families, and couples.
