I believe in each person’s innate potential and ability to grow and heal. My approach brings a compassionate, non-judgmental mindful awareness to sessions. This helps clients slow down in order to explore and heal emotions and beliefs that are limiting their sense of well-being and potential. Clients learn to use mindfulness as a powerful tool for change. I work with adults who are struggling with life transitions, anxiety or depression as well as people struggling with the impact of trauma.

I have been working in the mental health field for almost a decade and specialize in supporting individuals and couples through life transitions, adjusting to parenthood, and coping with anxiety and depression.
I am passionate about helping parents, especially those with young children, manage their stress, self-doubt, “mom guilt,” and burn out, so they can enjoy their family life. It can be challenging to navigate new family dynamics, differences in parenting styles, and fragmented communication, but I’m here to help you find peace and balance.

Real change requires conscious effort and action, in addition to a deeper understanding of old patterns. As your therapist, I'll listen to your story, and perhaps hear an unspoken one in the spaces between your words. Good therapy is about empathetic listening, holding space, and developing trust so you can safely identify patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving which may be holding you back; explore possibilities; and develop self-awareness about yourself. Sometimes just being heard inspires us to consciously choose to change the nature of our underlying thoughts, and thus move toward personal growth and transformation.

I continuously strive to give the most individualized care and support that I can, to best meet the needs of each client. In order to do so, I get to know my clients so that I can better understand them, their needs, their weaknesses and most importantly their strengths. In doing so, I am able to more effectively work with them to help them gain a better understanding of themselves and the reasons driving their mal-adaptive behaviors and choices. With a better understanding of oneself and one's actions, the steps towards making desired positive changes become more clear and attainable.

Throughout life, everyone has adopted some negative beliefs, downloads from parents and early life, and most have some sort of traumas from different periods of their life. Often we do not realize these negative influences and the impact it has on our attitudes, behaviors and health. I work as a Synergetic and Energy therapist helping clients to clear these negative influences in order to allow the client to embrace ongoing health and happiness.

A parent concerned that their child has trouble focusing. An intelligent teen who struggles in school. A fourth-grade girl whose mood rapidly changes from irritable to euphoric, and then back again, day after day. The sixth grade boy who can't fall sleep alone in his bedroom because he “can’t turn off his brain”. These, and many, many others, are the types of children who may be referred to Neurobehavioral Consultants for a comprehensive psychological evaluation to help identify the cause of these troubles, and help to provide solutions.

Anxiety Therapists
What are the most common treatments for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
