**I am licensed to provide therapy in RI & MA** I don't believe that therapy has to look or feel like therapy as it is often represented. Together we can approach life's challenges in an intentional, action oriented, person centered and thoughtful way, in order to help break and change the patterns that have too often rendered you "stuck." To assist in making these changes, I provide the direct and honest guidance and feedback that is absolutely necessary to any successful therapy, while fostering an environment where you feel able to take the risks to grow, adjust, and adapt. My guiding principle is that change is always possible.

NOTE: the only insurances I accept are the student insurances for Brown University and Tufts University students. I help students, artists, athletes, and other high-level performers bring out the best in themselves and each other. I specialize in healing trauma, anxiety, creative and performance blocks, existential and relationship issues, and the impacts of social forces on mental health. I tend to fit well with patients who are smart, creative, funny, introspective, curious, and ready for change.

Sometimes we may lose our way on the winding road life sets forth. Stephanie holds faith that every individual can embrace their ability to change, grow & recover. Perhaps it may not be easy to admit we might benefit from the support of another to help us regain strength. Cumberland Counseling, LLC is a group private practice providing a wide variety of support. We have licensed and advanced associate clinicians who practice in RI, MA, and CT with a focus on Marriage and Family Therapy. Individual treament is available for those suffering with behavioral, emotional or life issues. We will teach you how to utilize techniques in your daily life to acheive mindfulness, strength and positivity. We also strive to bring help to those suffering with sexualilty, cultural, racial or spirituality issues.

My 25 plus years of experience has been working with children, youth and their families who have a history of trauma/abuse and neglect and struggle with relationships. I have experience in public child welfare, working with RI Family Court, RI Superior Court and various other state and community service agencies. I have worked with victims of violence as well as offenders. My work focuses around helping parents, young adults and children who have struggled with their behavioral health; depression, substance use disorders, anger management, communication, relationship issues and school functioning.

My goal is to remove the stigma behind mental health for many communities and to help people openly discuss their mental health through therapy. It is normal to be apprehensive about seeking therapy and your motivation to seek therapy does not have to be the same as someone else’s, nor do things need to be bad before beginning therapy. My approach is always client focused. I work with my clients on building their self-esteem and problem-solving abilities, while empowering them to gain self-awareness on how to navigate their feelings, behaviors, and thoughts. My belief is that no one deserves to heal alone.

Clients will benefit from Linda's deep belief in the human capacity for growth and transformation. Linda specializes in working collaboratively with couples seeking to repair and deepen their relationship, including those hoping to recover from infidelity. She has extensive training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and is an Approved Member of the Gottman Referral Network. For married couples on the brink of divorce, Linda offers brief Discernment Counseling as an alternative to traditional couples counseling, to help partners gain greater clarity and confidence in their decision making about the future of their marriage.

For over 23 years, I have been working in addictions counseling with individuals in all stages of addiction and recovery, and I’ve worked with individuals of all age groups. I believe recovery is possible for everyone who wants it and I want to assist you in meeting your own recovery goals.

I enjoy encouraging self-discovery, growth and transformation in my patients. Exploring the connection of mind, body and spirit as well as creating awareness around foundational beliefs and behaviors is essential if we desire positive change. Together we will explore the root of problem behaviors, redefine distorted beliefs and learn coping skills. You will also learn to develop body awareness, mindfulness and wisdom to experience a more empowered version of you.

As a licensed clinical psychologist, I believe strongly in the power of therapy to lead to greater self-awareness and to relieve symptoms including depression and anxiety. For therapy to be effective, however, there must be a warm and trusting relationship between the therapist and patient. In the 20 years I have been a therapist, I have successfully treated children, adolescents, adults and families with a wide range of mental health issues. While the underlying concerns vary from patient to patient, the key to therapy is always providing a nurturing environment in which patients feel safe expressing their emotions.

Sometimes we all need a little extra help or someone outside of our circle to listen and give a fresh perspective. I believe that everyone can change and has the ability to better themselves when life may not feel that way. I have been in the field for over 20 years. I provide counseling for adults and work in finding the best solutions for the issues at hand. Our goal together will be to develop tools that you can utilize in your daily life long after counseling has ended.

My clients are stuck in certain patterns of behavior or thought that prevent them from living fuller more rewarding lives. They want to get unstuck.

Dr. Mayela Llaurador-Castillo is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Rhode Island, Florida and Puerto Rico. She received her Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico and has been uninterruptedly working on this field for over 25 years. She has worked with individuals, children, families and couples at multiple settings and levels of care: outpatient, inpatient and residential services, correctional facilities, foster care and, most recently, in the military.
