My name is Dr. Megumi Maruya Makepeace. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and hold a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I was raised on Oahu in a very traditional Japanese family, spent several years as a military dependent on the Mainland, which has brought all these experiences to my multicultural approach to therapy. I am fully aware of the cultural makeup of Hawai’i, and the unique and diverse cultures of the local population, as well as those new to the island. I have a passion to treat culturally diverse, underserved populations, and especially support families navigate through extremely difficult life transitions.
I provide therapy to adults and am trained to provide individual, couples, postpartum mothers, coparenting and high conflict divorce counseling. I have experience in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, fertility concerns, postpartum depression/anxiety, coparenting difficulties, family & relationship conflict, life stressors, and stages of life transitions.
I am passionate about guiding people in developing new insights & awareness in order to better navigate difficult times of your life.
