I work with people of diverse sexualities and racial/class backgrounds, from teens to seniors. Many are new to NYC or in other transitions. Clients come with anxiety, a trauma surfacing, work or relationship issues. Now most people's lives and psyches have been affected by the pandemic in some way. I find that people want to understand themselves, break free from self-damaging patterns, and live more fully, even joyfully. They're figuring out how to negotiate this tumultuous world while being true to their own values. They look at how society's shaping of gender, sexuality, race, class, age and (dis)ability affect their life.

When was the last time you and your body had a conversation? Are you even on speaking terms? Like any relationship, the one between you and your body needs attention and understanding.
I help stressed-out professionals, parents, and couples get off the crisis-rinse-repeat cycle of therapy with a body-mind, somatic, approach. Whether it's time-consuming jobs, relationship problems, social obligations, mortgages, or coping with a divorce, it is easy to become detached from your wants and needs. Integrating the body-mind connection into therapy helps my clients get back in touch with their feelings. Reach out and let's see if we are a good fit.

As a cognitive behavioral psychologist, I believe that everyone holds the potential and capability to significantly improve their life. Insight is important in setting the foundation for positive change, but CBT psychotherapy has been proven to be effective in helping people learn to implement the tools necessary to achieve their goals. I treat a wide range of difficulties, but have specialized expertise in relationship issues of all kinds: marital, couples, parent-child, and friendship, for example. I also specialize in many aspects of behavioral medicine. My patients report feeling safe and comfortable working with me in a warm, trusting, professional environment.

I practice holistic sex and relationship therapy with a wide array of clients seeking assistance with sexual function, relationship, intimacy, and identity.
I help clients to develop curiosity and compassion about their inner lives and desires, guiding them towards healing, pleasure, and joy. I approach therapy as a collaboration in which we get to know your inner world together. I help you to uncover the psychological, somatic, and sensory experiences that have shaped how you approach the world, providing opportunities for freedom, choice, and transformation. In both individual and couples therapy, I use mindfulness and embodiment to help you build awareness of your own wants, needs, emotions, and desires, creating a foundation for clear communication, intimacy, and understanding.

I also have extensive training in LGBTQ-Affirmative Psychotherapy and in working with clients who practice nontraditional relationship styles.
I approach our work as an evolving collaboration, fulfilling the profound and universal desire to be known and accepted. Using an integrative approach, I view effective therapy not as panacea, but as a ladder into the unknown: helping clients through obstacles towards specific goals, deeper into the self, outward toward another, and through challenging transitions. My particular training and experience is in working with performing artists, individuals with a variety of gender identities and sexualities, as well as people in various life transitions, particularly with young adults and issues surrounding identity formation.

Does it ever seem as if it’s always an upward battle in your relationship with your husband, wife, partner? You may be struggling in a relationship, feeling unhappy and conflicted. As a marriage and family counselor, I help couples of all orientations work through their issues, figure out the source of their unhappiness, and help them with approaches/strategies to enhance their relationship. If you're a parent trying to cope with your children’s behavior issues, I can help you learn to realistically set limits, as well as define goals and expectations with your children.

After 25 years of experience, I've learned that successful psychotherapy begins with a genuine collaborative relationship and connection with my clients - one formed in an environment of trust and safety, but with enough challenge to promote change. I work from a psychodynamic and relational perspective, actively engaging with you to explore issues including relationship and career difficulties, anxiety, depression, self -esteem, as well as addictive behaviors such as eating disorders. I integrate behavioral strategies (CBT), life coaching techniques, and mindfulness practices as needed. I want my clients to know themselves better, be able to explore new options, and learn the tools needed to change.

Have you sought to find fulfilment but still feel off-course? My practice is dedicated to supporting seekers like you. Perhaps you have looked for answers through spiritual traditions, leaving organized religion, your romantic relationship, welcoming children into the world, psychedelic medicines, or other major undertakings. Yet you continue to feel lost, frustrated, incomplete, or alone. Maybe the steps you have taken are related to difficulties from your past that feel unresolved. Though you have worked hard to help the pieces of your life fit together, you feel like something remains missing.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
