I am passionate about working with children, adolescents and their parents. There are many issues within our society today that can cause increased stress for a child or teen which can in turn lead to behavioral concerns and struggles with anxiety and/or depression. It is my goal to come alongside that child or teen to better understand their thoughts and feelings and help them develop effective coping strategies to address the challenges that they face in a healthier manner. I also work with parents, increasing their understanding of their child's challenges, identifying ways to provide support at home.
In my work, I seek to integrate a variety of therapeutic approaches in a creative manner, tailoring sessions to meet the unique needs and personality of each individual and family. It is my goal to treat the whole person, not merely the symptoms.
Often, children do not have the words to adequately express what is happening internally which can leave parents feeling confused about a child's behaviors. This is why I utilize play therapy techniques to help draw the child out, allowing them to process their feelings in a developmentally appropriate manner.
