Sometimes you know what the issue is and you need to find the right person to support you in making change. Other times you need support to help you identify what needs to change. There are also times when something is beyond your control, but I can help you learn to control how you respond and how your response impacts your wellbeing. We can work together to implement change in your thought patterns or behaviors in order to reduce distress and improve your quality of life. And life feels pretty hard now. Everyone could use some extra support.
To achieve change, I believe we must use a lens that respects that the different parts of our lives do not occur in isolation and we need to look at how all of the pieces impact each other. I utilize a number of approaches, though my foundation is primarily composed of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
I approach my clients with non-judgmental acceptance and believe the quality of our relationship impacts success. I have extensive experience working with clients who are dealing with issues related to addiction, substance abuse, chronic illness, HIV, and gender & sexuality (LGBTQIA+), in addition to treating struggles with stress, depression, and anxiety.
