Aloha, my name is Rachel Remsen. I have a master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Hawaii, and I am a nationally board-certified counselor. My approach to therapy is creating a safe place for individuals to process and work through the highs, lows, and everyday stress of life. My approach to therapy is built on a foundation of Person-Centered core concepts (empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence). I believe in meeting clients where they are at and creating a space where they feel comfortable.
While my foundation is based on a Person-Centered approach, I consider myself to have an eclectic approach to therapy depending on what my client brings to our sessions.
I pull from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused, Strength-Based, Motivational Interviewing, Humanistic approach, Acceptance and Commitment, and many more. I believe that clients are the experts themselves, and I can assist by being someone who walks beside them, in front of them, or behind them in this journey.
